Work highlights
Successfully representing Tulip Trading Limited (Tulip) in Court of Appeal proceedings ([2023] EWCA Civ 83) in connection with Tulip’s claim to recover over £3 billion worth of digital assets including Bitcoin. The Court of Appeal granted Tulip permission to pursue its claim for breach of fiduciary duties and/or a duty of care against the developers of various blockchain-linked digital assets including Bitcoin following jurisdictional challenges by those developers.
Advising on large scale commercial and contractual disputes, frequently representing clients in substantial claims in relation to outsourcing, service delivery and joint-venture contracts. This had let to a client in a multi-million US dollar claim in the Netherlands Arbitration Institute (NAI) in connection with a joint-venture project in Kazakhstan. The proceedings involved factual witnesses and legal experts from multiple jurisdictions including Russia, Kazakhstan, the UK, BVI and Germany.
o Representing a client in LCIA and ad hoc arbitration in relation to a large quantum claim in connection with a failed IT project.
o Representing a multinational corporate group within the on-line gaming industry in a dispute concerning a software licensing agreement.
Assisting in brand protection matters, representing clients in defamation proceedings, intellectual property infringement (including misuse of name, trademark and breach of copyright) and data protection.
