Jorge Álvarez González has a degree in law from the University of Oviedo (1991), a Master's degree in European Studies from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom (1992), has been a practising lawyer since November 1992 and is a partner in the Regulatory, Public Law, Town Planning and Competition Department of ONTIER, a firm he joined in 2006.
His professional activity has been developed in the field of Public Law, advising individuals, companies and all kinds of public entities on matters such as town planning, state liability, compulsory purchase, public sector contracts, personnel in the service of the Public Administration, administrative concessions, sectorial licences and authorisations, public subsidies, public assets, local regime, administrative sanctions and regulated sectors, as well as competition law and agri-food law. He has outstanding experience in the energy sector, particularly in the field of promotion, construction, financing, start-up and operation of all types of renewable energy facilities, providing advice to both project developers and contractors and financial institutions. It also has extensive procedural experience in all types of litigation, jurisdictions and instances, including before the control and audit courts, as well as the Constitutional Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union.
Jorge Álvarez is a regular speaker at courses and specialized conferences, and author and co-author of several publications, the most recent being the second edition of the book 'La Regulación de la Industria Aeronáutica', a collective work published in 2017 by Editorial Aranzadi, and the collective book 'Retos del Desarrollo Urbano Sostenible e Integrado', published in 2018 by Editorial Tirant lo blanch. Since 2013, he has been listed in the international legal directory Best Lawyers among the leading lawyers in Spain in the field of Administrative Law, and was highlighted in the 2015 edition as Lawyer of the Year in that field. The Chambers & Partners Europe 2020 guide has also included him among the leading lawyers in the field of Public Law. He has been Secretary of TEDAE, Spanish Association of Defence, Aeronautics and Space Technology Companies, and, since 2012, he is the Secretary of association named “Foro de la Regulación Administrativa”.
